SEAFiT Crew Survey Report 2023

Crew Survey Report | 2023 55 seafit.safety4sea.com APPENDI X B Example Let’s assume that the first question received answers from 13 crew members, one vessel. The best-case sce- nario (100% satisfaction) would be all seafarers to answer the fifth option (Frequently, on a weekly basis). The worst-case scenario (0% satisfaction) would be all seafarers to answer the first option (Never). The average satis- faction level of the index was determined as follows: Question No Received Answer # of answers Satisfaction Level Result 1 Never 4 0% 4X0=0 Undecided 7 50% 7X50=350 Frequently, on a weekly basis 2 75% 2X75=150 Received answers Question No Answer Satisfaction Level 1-20 Never 0 % On a very limited, few occasions during my service 25 % Undecided 50 % Frequently, on a weekly basis 75 % On a daily basis 100% 26-31 Yes 100% No 0 % 21-25 & 32-61 Strongly Disagree 0 % Disagree 25 % Undecided 50 % Agree 75 % Strongly Agree 100% The received answers were converted to satisfaction percentage (%) 0,25,50,75,100 as shown below. Each index was calculated as the average satisfaction level of the five answers received. Index Calculation If all the responses referred to the fifth option, the total score would be 13 X 100=1300 However, the received answers have a total score 0+350+150=500. Therefore, the satisfaction level for Q1 is determined as follows: Q1=500/1300 or Satisfaction Level 38.5% If we do the same with all questions received and take the average of satisfaction level, we get the level for each index. [eg. WNI = Average(Q1 to Q25)] Finally, by calculating the remaining indexes simi- larly and taking the average of all indexes, we calcu- lated the Crew Welfare Index. Survey Element Index Calculated Satisfaction level CWI Wellness Index WNI 37.5 Average (WNI,CMI,HPI, WBI) CWI=46.1 % Communication Index CMI 65.3 Happiness Index HPI 40.5 Wellbeing Index WPI 40.8
